A Thanksgiving Wish

“Appreciation can change a day, even change a life. Your willingness to put it into words is all that is necessary.”

~Margaret Cousins

Holidays have a mixture of colors and textures to them, particularly this year.

Many people are feeling uneasy, disconnected and overwhelmed by the prolonged effects of the pandemic.

Mixed emotions are normal.

This Thanksgiving, my wish for you is that you stop and pause before cooking a meal, greeting a guest or a loved one, or calling a friend.

We have all been through so much.  So let’s catch our breath here.

Take just five minutes to write down what you are grateful for about yourself.

Begin with listing what you did right this past year.

Here is a diversity of examples I have collected from others:

  • I pivoted and recreated my business, my career or even my lifestyle.
  • I handled heartbreak with grace.
  • I became more discerning about my priorities.
  • I centered within more, tending to the needs of my soul.
  • I chose kindness, love, and compassion versus judgment or harsh criticism.
  • I let go of a grievance and forgave another.

Next, list three things you most appreciate about yourself, and then three things you most value about those closest to you.  Be generous and share with others the list of what you appreciate about them.

And whether you are gathered around a table or solo this holiday, know this: You are a blessing.  You were born as love; it is innate to who you are, not defined by the numbers of people around you.

So, gather within, and embrace a few moments of solitude to reconnect to your essence.

As Kristi Nelson, author of Wake Up Grateful and one of my podcast guests shared with me, “Solitude is expansive.”  Ponder that thought a moment as you make time to relax over the holidays.   We need both, connection with others and with ourselves.

Know also there is my monthly online community to which you can belong, and grow alongside others, with love and compassion.

As a special holiday gift, I’ve opted to share my signature presentation, A journey to the heart of worthiness in next month’s online class (as detailed below) to end the year on an uplifting note.  I taught this class globally to a couple hundred HeartMath coaches earlier this year.  I hope to see you there.

Wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving!

With love and gratitude,

Gail
