Jump-starting your life…NOW

jump-starting your life blog photo“They say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself.”

With spring approaching we often come out of winter hibernation ready to live more vibrantly.  The time for renewal, hope and bringing forth new dreams is here, now, in this moment.

One way to jump-start your life to new levels is to practice living today as if it could very well be your last day on earth.

Seize the moment.  Take some time to reflect on the following thoughts and commit to take actions based on some of the insights you gain.

If today were the last day of your life, ask yourself these questions about the people you have loved or known:

1.   Who would you call to say thank you for touching your life or crossing your path?

2.    Who would you apologize to or ask forgiveness from?

3.    Who would you remember?

What are you waiting for?  Pick up the phone and call them now!

If today were the last day of your life, ask yourself these questions about what you like to do:

1.    How would you start your day?

2.    How would you end your day?

3.    What is one activity that brings you joy?

Do those very things today, valuing every moment as a gift.

If today were the last day of your life, ask these questions about your life journey:

1.    How would you want to be remembered?

2.    What kind words would you tell yourself about how you lived?

3.   What is one courageous thing you wanted to do that you have never done, but could do now?

Go for it, now.

If today were the last day of your life, ask these questions about your “achievements”:

1.    What would you be most grateful for?

2.    What are you most proud of?

3.    What is one piece of wisdom you have learned from your journey that may benefit others?

Write those thoughts down and share them with those you love.

Shake it up.  Truly live today as if it is the last—and be thankful you get a few more moments to extend yourself in some way.  Use your gifts. Open your heart.  Be brave. Go to the line.  Risk loving.

I would love to hear your stories of one change you make today, or within the next 24 hours, to live more fully NOW.  Post your action steps or any other insights about your life’s new priorities or dreams at the comment section at the end of this blog.

1.    I allow myself to make choices now that truly matter.

2.    I allow myself to honor my well-being.

3.    I allow myself to live fully in the moment.

Beth Shedd’s Santa Monica Beach photo captures a man whole-heartedly demonstrating the process of “seizing the moment.” As he flies from ring to ring, he focuses only on what matters most in that very moment. If each day could find us focused on doing what matters most, what joy might we bring into the world?
